An in- depth study of this Science will provide you with a secure spiritual foundation on which to build the rich and useful life you hope for.
In her book The First Church of Christ, Scientist and Miscellany, Mary Baker Eddy expresses her hope for each of us, “As an active portion of one stupendous whole, goodness identifies man with universal good. Thus may each member of this church rise above the oft-repeated inquiry, What am I? to the scientific response: I am able to impart truth, health, and happiness, and this is my rock of salvation and my reason for existing” (p. 165). Mrs. Eddy designed Primary Class instruction to help us achieve this goal.

Christian Science is God’s love for mankind. Mrs. Eddy says, “…God explains Himself in Christian Science” (Message to The Mother Church 1901, p. 5) Rest assured it is God who poses the questions about life that come to our consciousness and this in turn inspires us to seek to learn more about the Principle of being through Christian Science. This unfolding of God’s love for you provides for the help you will need in working out the details that will allow you to attend the class.
Length of Class
Primary Class is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to focus all your energies on spiritual growth. The class is completed in two weeks time. These days are filled with in-class presentations and individual study, prayer, and practice. Students are expected to devote all their time during the class term to this spiritual study. Those who have taken Primary Class Instruction have found that it has strengthened and empowered their abilities to do well throughout their entire life. The dedication of two weeks to this purpose has been found to be both enjoyable and well worth the short investment of time.
Fees and other expenses
The fee for the class is $100. This fee was set by Mary Baker Eddy in The Manual of The Mother Church, Article 26, Section 5. The student is also responsible for their travel and housing costs. At times church members in the area are able to offer rooms for students to use during class free of charge.
